Entrance Restoration in Canterbury

The renovation focused on a large, extended detached home set on several acres, featuring a hand-built, two-storey green oak entrance structure that had settled over time. The structure required an overhaul to refresh its appearance and address water ingress caused by timber shrinkage. Scaffolding was erected to facilitate the work. Glazing beads were removed, large double-glazed units were sealed, and the beads were reinstalled. The entire structure underwent heavy abrasion to eliminate weathering. Joints, splits, and shakes in the timber were sealed using Repair Care Dry Flex, a two-component epoxy resin. The structure was finished with Sikkens HLS base coats and Sikkens Cetol Filter 7 top coats, restoring its aesthetic appeal and ensuring long-term protection against the elements.

The completed project revitalized the entrance, enhancing its durability and visual charm while preserving the property's distinctive character.
